Macro 23/31: Running Trixie

Macro 23/31: Running Trixie

...in hot pursuit of the frisbee.

(Not the sharpest photo I've ever taken, but I like how alert she looks in it...)

Macro 22/31: Weed Seeds

Macro 22/31: Weed Seeds

Last year, these were pretty purple-pink wildflowers. Now they're interesting seed pods.

(I think these are a type of Agalinis, formerly known as Gerardia.)

Macro 21/31: Waves in the Sand

Lines in the Sand

We spent part of the day at the beach. This was my first time there since the mess with the oil last year. Everything looks beautiful and clean again, thank goodness.

The dry portion of the beach was covered in these little wavy lines-- and if you watched closely, you could see grains of sand scudding over and along them, carried on the brisk northerly wind.

Macro 20/31: Rosy

Macro 20/31: Rosy

Close-up of a potholder I crocheted. I actually made two of these quite some time ago, but I just now got around to crocheting around and attaching the plastic bone rings-- the finishing touch!

Macro 19/31: Before & After Oatmeal Cookies

Macro 19/31: Before & After Oatmeal Cookies

I think this may be the first time I've ever made oatmeal cookies. I was impressed with the results, though (if I do say so myself!), so I doubt this will be the last time.

Macro 18/31: Bird on a Wire

Macro 18/31: Bird on a Wire

...two photos combined into one.

(The sky behind the bird was actually a very flat grey, so I used a photo I took of a different part of the sky.)

...starting a new (small) crochet project...

Funny how easy it is to make crochet spiral...

Macro 8/31: Goldenrod Fluff

...after the gold has gone...

Macro 7/31: Circles in the Square

Macro 7/31: Circles in the Square

Here's a sneak peek at a blanket I'm crocheting. This was the first square I made for it. I'm enjoying this pattern a lot, so far. (It's the Circle of Friends Square, for anyone interested.)

Macro 6/31: Sugar-Sweet

Macro 6/31: Sugar-Sweet

Though I didn't get around to it during the holidays, I did finally bake a batch of my favorite sugar cookies. Yum!

(Most-- if not all-- the cutters I used this time came from Sweden-- moons, stars, hearts, and moose... not pictured.)

Macro 5/31: Color on a Cloudy Day

Macro 5/31: Color on a Cloudy Day

On such a dreary day, a jolt of color helps brighten the mood.

I'm thinking about what colors I want to use in my next big crochet project. Looks like I'm going to use the whole rainbow!

Macro 4/31: Crochet Hooks

Macro 4/31: Crochet Hooks

...a colorful assortment of hooks in different sizes...

Macro 3/31: Cross-Stitch

Macro 3/31: Cross-Stitch

...a portion of a cross-stitch/embroidery that Donald's Mormor made for him back in 1982. The words are from a Swedish song about Tomten's (Santa's) gnomes (elves) and what they do on Christmas night.

From what Donald tells me, mostly they just play games and eat from the Christmas food left out by the people of the house-- then carefully arrange things before leaving so that no-one can tell they were ever there.

Macro 2/31: Privet Berries

Privet

I don't like the sickly sweet smell of privet blooms, but the berries are pretty.

Macro 1/31: Puzzling

Macro 1/31: Puzzling

This is a puzzle Donald and I started putting together after Christmas... and then left alone for days. If one or both of us doesn't start working on it soon, it probably ought to go back in the box.

January's Challenge: 31 Days with the Macro Lens

Instead of making a giant commitment (like another Project 365), I've decided to continue with smaller week- or month-long goals and challenges.

My goal for January is to take at least one photo a day using our macro lens.  It shouldn't be difficult, since I probably use that lens more than any other, anyway!

(Just to clarify, not all of the photos will look like super close-ups.  I'm just using the macro lens, which can be used to take all sorts of photos.)
