B&W 18/28: Derelict
...a flower pot in need of a little attention...
(Can you tell I wasn't "feeling it" today, as they say?)

B&W 17/28: Spooky
...playing around with long exposures.
Post processing was only converting to grayscale, tweaking the light and contrast, sharpening slightly, then ortonizing (layering w/ Gaussian blur).

B&W 9/28: Grot
One of these days, I want to get back into making faux hypertufa. It was a lot of fun to make "stone", and I'm pleased with how well many of the things I made before (at least a few years ago, now) have held up against the elements.

B&W 8/28: Self-Portrait
It's been a while since I've taken any self-portraits, so I'm trying to make myself do a few now and then. I have a hard time with it, honestly, for a couple of reasons. First, there are only so many angles that are remotely flattering (for me, in my opinion). Second, getting the focus right is a challenge! Our small camera has a nice face-finding feature that helps, but still... It's just a lot of work.

B&W 3/28: Peeling
Peeling bark on one of our river birches.
(I love these trees! Such easy, fast-growing trees! Such interesting bark!)

B&W 2/28: Live Oak
...Taken down at the southern edge fence...
Another dreary day-- and chilly, too. It was around 40°F when I ventured forth to take this photo.

January Macro Lens Wrap-Up, February B&W Start-Up
I kind of lost steam toward the end of the month, and some of the photos reflect that, but hey, at least I managed to follow the letter of the law. ;o) I did manage to take at least one photo a day-- each using the macro lens. I think I've had my fill of being tied to one lens-- even if it is my favorite. (Next time I do macro-only, they're all going to be "real", close-up macros-- not just using that lens.)
For February, I think I'll try to focus on textures and the effects of light and shadow by taking a black-and-white* photo every day. (Possibly not posted every day, but I'll do my best, when I feel like it. (g))
*Note: I will take the photos in color, as I usually do, then convert them to b&w in the post-processing. But when I'm taking them, I'll be thinking about them in b&w, if that makes any sense.

Macro 31/31: 'Tatoes
Molly loves boiled potatoes. I like them, too. I like them even better when they're subsequently fried in butter (and spices).
Macro 30/31: Vroom!
You are forgiven if you think these look like either hardened wads of earwax (ewwww) or chocolate-covered insects. However, they are actually chocolate-covered "cars"-- as in Bilar, Donald's favorite gummy/marshmallowy candy from Sweden.
Macro 28/31: Trixie in Profile
How can the same dog be so charming at some times and yet the ultimate brat-butt at others? It's puzzling...
Anyway, here she was in one of her non-brat-butt moods.
Macro 27/31: Sunshine Yarn
This is the color I'm using to edge the squares in the Circle of Friends-based afghan I'm currently making. I'll also use this sunny yellow to join the squares and make the border. (Or at least the foundation of the border... I'll make the final decision on the border once it's all put together.)
