Square 23/31: Rag Rug

As if I didn't already have enough crochet/knitting projects going... This one wasn't even in my queue (though I did have the t-shirt strips already cut for an earlier attempt).  This is a test run and will probably go in the laundry room, for Molly.  I just wanted to see if I could do it.

Square 22/31: What You Do

What you do when your snapshot of meatballs frying on the stovetop looks horrible?  Use the substandard photo of the Eskie and assorted feet instead. Excessive cross-processing optional. 

Square 21/31: Reorganized

I went through my clothes-- switched things around according to the changing season and pulled out the things that no longer merited a spot in the closet.  I probably should have been more severe, but there's always next time.

Square 20/31: Rippling

I started a new crochet afghan, just because I wanted to have another big project going. 

(The colors in this photo aren't quite accurate, by the way.  Poor light, I guess-- and when I tried to adjust them afterward, I still couldn't get them perfect.)

Square 19/31: Red Beret

It's finally getting cool enough that I can wear the hat I crocheted a few weeks ago.  It was my first time crocheting a hat, but it was such fun, I'm sure it won't be the last! 

I'll try to take more photos (or have Donald take some), because most of the ones from my first attempt turned out a little blurry. 

Square 18/31: What's for Supper?

It was Chicken Lo Mein, that night. 

Square 17/31: Shelved

We put in a new shelf in the utility / laundry room, so I had the (genuine) pleasure of light reorganization. Ah, storage solutions! Though you wouldn't know it to look at some parts of the house, right now, deep down I'm an "a place for everything and everything in its place" kind of person.

Square 16/31: (Almost) Blanket Weather

(Couch) blanket weather came, then went away again.  We're expecting it to return (with a vengeance) by mid-week, with lows in the 40s and highs just below 70.  (*squeal*)

(Um... This photo has been cross-processed, in case it's not obvious.  The blanket is not actually this weird yellowy-greenish-aqua color.  It has seen the inside of a washing machine.  Multiple times. (g))

Square 15/31: Clearance

Couldn't resist the clearance aisle.  Now I really do have to learn to knit, to justify the purchase.  ;o)

Square 14/31: Rollings Waves of Lawn

And rolling waves of sun and shadow.   They weren't really rolling, though.  Just sitting still or barely moving, the way tree shadows usually do.  This does make me think of the swell of the ocean, though. The lit parts are foam floating on the surface.  As for the hovering shadows, maybe they're best ignored...

Squre 13/31: Rain

It rained overnight.  There were actually even a few peals of thunder, so we got up to unplug things.  And of course, in accordance with the laws of nature, it hardly thundered afterward.  ;o)  The rain was a pleasure to listen to, though.  It's been a while...

Square 12/31: Slithery Grass

This patch of grass (on the southern side of the clearing where my parents' house sits) makes a peaceful, slithery sound in the wind when we pass it on our walks.   It's the kind of tall grass I'd never lie in/on, for fear of ticks and other nasties, but if I were someone else, I might be tempted to fall back into it, just to see what it would feel like...

Square 11/31: New Knitting Project

It's going to be a pin cushion / "knitting and crocheting doo-dads holder". 

Probably.  If I can figure out how to sew it all together.  I'm not the best at sewing pieces of crochet together, and sewing knitting feels even more intimidating.

Square 10/31: Spot(s) of Color

Red is just beginning to dot the few trees around here that actually turn a color (other than brown) before falling. 

Square 9/31: Unravelled

I ran into a problem, found the mistake a few rounds back, and had to unravel.

Square 8/31: Goldenrod

A sure sign that autumn's here-- the goldenrod is blooming.

Square 7/31: Audiobook

Listening to an audiobook on the Kindle...  I still need to figure out exactly how audiobook files work on it, though.  Sometimes, it remembers my place just fine.  Other times, I come back to listen and find it's returned me to the beginning of the file.  (Which is very irritating.)

Square 6/31: Trixie ♥s Her Food Cube

We recently dug the "food cube" toy out of extended storage.  There was a scene of joyful reunion.  It's a love/hate relationship, though.  When there's a stubborn treat that refuses to come out (or sometimes when there's simply no food in it at all), Trixie likes to growl and otherwise mistreat it.

Square 5/31: Taking Notes

I'm working on moving the content from our "old" polymer clay website to the fancy new system (and design) Donald's fixed up for me.  As I go, I'm trying to make notes of things I should add, once the bulk of the site's moved over. 

Square 4/31: Flame on Demand

Matches-- one of those little things we don't think much about, but it's pretty amazing (not to mention convenient) to have flame on demand.  (And it's such fun striking matches, isn't it?)

I burned (most of) the pile of weeds, trimmings, etc. that had been waiting for the right time.  As I work in the yard over the next few months, I'm sure there will be more bonfires to come. 

Square 3/31: I KNITTED SOMETHING.

It's true.  I managed to knit something-- a square of fabric that I am choosing to call a dishcloth.  (g) 

I think I may be able to handle this knitting thing, after all.

The crochet hooks are getting a brief rest period while I try to teach myself to knit.

September Wrap-Up, October Intro

I changed up my sepia-ifying (sepiaing? sepification? ;o)) process a few days into September.  (Well, the process stayed about the same.  I just changed the tone of sepia.)  Looking back, I'm not sure which I prefer.  The sepia of the first few days feels richer and more dramatic, but maybe it looks overdone compared to the cleaner, lighter sepia of the rest of the month... On the other hand, the less tea-stained sepia doesn't seem that different from black and white.  I like each in its own way, though, and it would be good for me to remember that sepia can vary.

...October.
I think October's going to be a month of square-cropped photos.  It's not something I have a lot of experience doing, and for most of my photos it'll probably be fairly pointless.  (I doubt I'll be diligent about composing every photo with the square-crop in mind...)  Still, it can't do any real harm, I guess.  ;o) 

Sepia 30/30: Phoning It In

Why not finish the month on a high note (creatively speaking)?  Look, it's another photo of Trixie! 

(Honestly, I don't tire easily of photographing my favorite subjects, so I'm not plagued by feelings of guilt over having three or four photos of Trixie per project.)
